Breaking Through

Hope...
hope in God is not a "maybe so" kind of hope,
but a confident expectation based on who God is.
David knew this when he penned these words:

"I will bless the Lord at all times, His praise will continually be in my mouth."
                                       Ps. 34:1

I have hope - not based on circumstances... but because of who God is.
Praising Him moves my heart to confidence in Him, and I'm reminded of all I have to be thankful for - that He has done for me.

"Oh give thanks to the Lord, for He is good, His loving kindness endures forever."
                                                   1Chronicles 16:34

As you create, express your sorrow, but remember
the greatness of God.

During this pandemic, ask God to
  • Heal the sick and suffering
  • Protect those who are not sick
  • Give wisdom and understanding to medical personnel, scientists, and developers
  • Provide for those who are in need
  • Make His presence known and a comfort to this world

Through, Not Around

King David, of ancient days, had dark and terrifying experiences where his life hung in the balance.
He expressed what that feels like poetically,
"Even though I walk through the valley of the Shadow of Death, I fear no evil, for You are with me; your rod and staff comfort and console me."
                                      (Psalm 23:4)

In our modern day, we have lost the idea of rod and staff. The rod protected the flock.  The staff guided them. That idea is a great comfort.  The security of God's presence gives us hope in a  dark valley, doesn't it?
"Those who wait for the Lord ~ expect Him , look for Him ~ will gain new strength and renew their power; they will lift up their wings (rise up close to God) like eagles. They will run and not become weary. They will walk and not grow tired."
                                                     (Isaiah 40:31)
We seem to be in a dark valley.  God walks into the thick of it with us
with His rod and staff.

As you create, express your sorrow, but remember
the greatness of God.

The Maelstrom of Fear

Oh, how easily Fear can overcome our hearts,
giving us tunnel vision.

 But scripture tells us:
"For I am the Lord, your God.
Do not fear; I will help you!"
         Isaiah 41:13

Think about it!
God promises His help, which is often greater than or different than we expected or imagined.
And scripture reassures us in the New Testament, calling us to come to the One who loves us.
"Cast all your cares, anxieties, worries, concerns once and for all on Him, for he cares about you with deepest affection and watches over you carefully."
                                             1 Peter 5:7
(Scripture is quoted from the Amplified Version)

As you create, express your sorrow, but remember
the greatness of God.
